Only if the AMM or fixture manufacturer requires a ballast change. Many like-for-like replacements do not require ballast replacement.

Handle by the ends, avoid touching the glass unnecessarily, de-energise the circuit, and seat the tube in the holders per the fixture procedure.

• What should I do if the lamp fails soon after installation?

Isolate power, remove the lamp, record the event in the maintenance log, inspect the fixture and ballast per the AMM, and replace with a certified spare.
