About this product
The doubler plate LJ34524 is a structural reinforcement panel designed to strengthen and repair aircraft skin where additional load distribution is needed. Typically installed beneath or over areas with cutouts or where minor damage has been removed, this plate spreads stress over a larger area to prevent cracks or deformation in the thin aluminum or composite skin. Made from a lightweight, corrosion-resistant aluminum alloy, it matches the surrounding structure in thickness and material properties.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

LJ34524

  • Aerospace-Grade Aluminium Alloy - Manufactured from 2024-T3 or similar aircraft-spec aluminium to match adjacent skin strength and corrosion resistance.

  • Precision Laser Cutting - CNC/laser-cut edges and pre-drilled fastener holes ensure an exact fit, minimising field modifications and ensuring consistent load transfer.

  • Contoured Design - Shaped to match the fuselage curvature or wing surface, allowing smooth aerodynamic flow and even stress distribution.

  • Pre-Treatment Finish - Anodised or alodine-treated surface helps prevent corrosion and provides good paint adhesion without additional coatings.

  • Installed after removing a corroded or cracked portion of aircraft skin, providing a doubly thick area around the repair.

  • Used around window, inspection panel, or antenna cutouts to distribute loads and prevent stress‐concentration cracks.

  • Reinforces the skin surrounding landing-gear door cutouts to handle repeated opening/closing cycles without distortion.

  • Applied beneath rows of close-spaced fasteners to prevent pull-through or panel fatigue.

  • What is a doubler plate used for in an aircraft?

A doubler plate reinforces thin aircraft skin by doubling the material thickness in areas subjected to high stress or where a cutout has been made, preventing cracks or deformation.

  • How is the doubler attached to the skin?

It is fastened using the pre-drilled rivet or bolt holes, matching the original hole pattern. Rivets of the same alloy and style as the adjacent skin are used, with standard flush or protruding heads as indicated in the SRM.

  • Is this doubler plate life-limited?

No. As long as it remains free of cracks, corrosion, and loose rivets, it can remain in service. Replace if any damage compromises its structural effectiveness.
