The MS3417-20N is a backshell termination for circular aircraft electrical connectors that provides mechanical strain relief, cable clamp, and a reliable conductive path for connector shielding. Built to aviation manufacturing standards and supplied with a Manufacturer’s Certificate of Conformance, it protects the cable-to-connector interface from vibration, abrasion, and contamination while helping maintain EMI/grounding continuity in aircraft and ground-support installations.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

MS3417-20N

  • Mechanical strain relief: Secures the cable jacket so the connector contacts are not loaded by cable movement.

  • Shield continuity provision: Designed to terminate cable braid/shield and preserve EMI grounding at the connector shell.

  • Cable clamp/gland: Positive clamping that grips the jacket without crushing internal conductors.

  • Environmental protection: Offers splash and dust protection at the cable/connector junction when fitted with the correct seals.


  • Provides strain relief and shielding at instrument-panel connector exits in the flight deck.

  • Maintains braid continuity and secures RF cable terminations on antenna harnesses.

  • Protects and secures wiring where harnesses enter nacelle or accessory compartments.

  • Anchors' cables where they pass into the gear well and experience motion during retraction.


  • What does the MS3417-20N fit?

It is made to fit the matching circular connector shell size and series. Confirm the connector shell size and mating part before ordering.

  • How does it maintain EMI shielding?

The backshell provides a conductive path for the cable braid/shield to the connector shell when the shield is properly terminated to the backshell clamp or lug.

  • Can it be used in wet areas?

When fitted with the correct gaskets/seals and installed per the aircraft maintenance instructions, it provides splash and dust protection. For full environmental sealing, follow OEM recommendations.
