About this product
The NAS1803-3B4 nutplate is a self-locking plate nut designed to provide a secure, floating attachment point in areas where access behind the panel is restricted. Machined from high-strength AISI 4130 alloy steel and cadmium-plated, it features two mounting lugs and internal spring-loaded locking tangs. The floating design allows slight alignment corrections during assembly, ensuring consistent clamp load and preventing fastener loosening under vibration and thermal cycling.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

NAS1803-3B4

  • Self-Locking Tangs - Integrated locking springs maintain prevailing torque on the bolt, preventing back-off in high-vibration environments.

  • Two-Lug Attachment - Stability provided by dual lugs ensures secure anchorage in thin-gauge panels and honeycomb structures without nut-insert deformation.

  • Floating Plate Design - Allows for easy alignment of mating holes, reducing installation stress and fatigue on structural skins.

  • Two-Lug Attachment - Stability provided by dual lugs ensures secure anchorage in thin-gauge panels and honeycomb structures without nut-insert deformation.

  • Aerospace-Grade Alloy - AISI 4130 steel construction meets MIL-DTL-25027H requirements, delivering high shear strength.

  • Mounting access panels and fairing skins on the fuselage and wings

  • Securing avionics racks and instrument panels where backside access is impossible

  • Fastening interior cabin fixtures, service doors, and galley components

  • Attaching control-surface hinge fittings and aerodynamic fairings

  • What material and finish are used?

Manufactured from AISI 4130 alloy steel, cadmium-plated per QQ-P-416 Class 2 and chromate-passivated per QQ-P-35.

  • Is this nutplate reusable after panel removal?

Yes, the durable cadmium finish and locking tangs allow multiple installation cycles, though inspect tang tension and plating integrity before reuse.

  • Does it require special inspection?

During C-checks, verify locking tang spring tension, cadmium-plating condition, and absence of distortion in the plate body; replace if any defect is found.
