  • Fine-Pitch UNJF-3B Threads - Optimized for high-clamp loads with minimal stress concentration, ensuring uniform engagement and reliable joint integrity.

  • High-Strength Alloy Construction - Machined from alloy steel, delivering tensile strength above 160 ksi and service temperature up to 450°F.

  • Floating-Nut Design - Slight lateral float in the nut body accommodates minor hole misalignment, simplifying installation on thin-gauge skins and honeycomb panels.


  • Securing hinge-fittings and fairing attachments on wings and empennage

  • Fastening structural splice-plate joints in fuselage and floor beams

  • Retaining bolts in landing-gear uplock and downlock mechanisms

  • How does the self-locking mechanism work?

Spring-steel tangs within the nut deform elastically over the bolt threads, generating a frictional force that resists backing off.

  • Can this nut be reused after removal?

No, the locking tangs deform during installation. Always replace with a new nut to ensure proper prevailing torque.

  • Is special tooling required?

No proprietary tools are needed; standard torque wrenches for 7/8″ hex nuts apply.
