About this product
The Hyd FUSE–RUDDER 2‑7680‑2 is a mechanical safety device installed in the hydraulic supply line to the aircraft’s rudder actuator. Its primary role is to detect abnormally high flow, indicative of a ruptured or leaking line, and rapidly isolate the affected branch to prevent catastrophic loss of hydraulic fluid pressure across the rest of the flight control system.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

2-7680-2

  • Accurate Flow‑Rate Trigger: Calibrated to activate at a precise flow threshold, ensuring leakage is isolated before significant fluid loss occurs.

  • Instantaneous Isolation: Mechanical spring‑loaded mechanism seals the line within milliseconds of detecting excessive flow, preserving hydraulic pressure in other control circuits.

  • Self‑Contained Operation: Functions entirely without electrical power or external sensors, relying on internal hydraulics and a precision valve for fail‑safe performance.

  • Corrosion‑Resistant Sealing: Constructed from stainless steel and high‑performance elastomers that withstand hydraulic fluid chemistry and operating temperatures, providing long service life.

  • Isolates a ruptured rudder supply line to prevent total loss of flight control hydraulics.

  • Works in tandem with other fuses to compartmentalise failures and maintain pressure in unaffected branches.

  • Incorporated into routine hydraulic system inspections and leak‑test procedures.

  • Replaces worn or tripped fuses during scheduled C‑checks and hydraulic repairs.

  • Does the fuse require external power or sensors?

No, the fuse operates purely mechanically, with no electrical components, ensuring fail‑safe activation.

  • Can the hydraulic fuse reset itself after activation?

Some designs automatically reset when flow returns to normal; others require manual replacement or reset per maintenance protocol.

  • What maintenance is needed to ensure the fuse functions correctly?

Periodic bench testing for activation flow threshold, visual inspection of seals, and replacement of any worn components during overhaul.
